15 Grams Pasta & Coffee
Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam • Restaurant
Recently, I returned to search for those nostalgic old-time cafes. There wasn't any special reason, just that the quiet, less bustling places always catch my attention. At the small house named 15 Grams, everyone will find the tranquility necessary for those days when you want to slow down. Tucked away in a small alley on Nguyen Van Nguyen street, 15 Grams brings a rare simplicity amidst the bustling District 1. Looking from outside, many might think 15 Grams is an entire building, but in reality, the cafe's space is on the upper floor, led by a spiraling gold staircase. I really like the space of 15 Grams not just because of its nostalgic feel, but also for its open and unoppressive design, unlike many other vintage cafes I've visited. Most of the guests at 15 Grams come mainly to read, so the cafe is also very quiet and relaxing. Additionally, from 6 PM, 15 Grams serves dinner which I find very fitting for the vintage and cozy space of the cafe. To stave off the sleepiness at noon, I tried the full Robusta Milk Coffee (55k) and the Blend (60k). I think splitting into two types is pretty interesting, catering to those accustomed to the strong taste of Robusta as well as guests who like a bit of the mild acidity of Arabica. Will I come back to 15 Grams? Definitely, but to try the pasta 😁. Pro tip: aside from the address mentioned above, you can also search for 375/8 Hoang Sa, and parking inside the house of the cafe is free.
