Reykjavik's hotels are something to talk about. I've always wanted to visit the Edition Hotel in Reykjavik. However, where a single cup of machine-made coffee costs as much as a bowl of sundae soup, I couldn't easily click the reservation button. As always, there is an alternative. That place is Canopy by Hilton. Though not yet in Korea, it has 37 locations in 10 countries. Each hotel has a different look, seamlessly blending into the local culture and art. It’s less 'I am a hotel' and more like living in that city. What about the Reykjavik Canopy? My experience is as follows: 1 - Casual comfort. The front desk is not directly facing the entrance but is to the side. With iMacs on the tables and staff in casual clothing, I mistook them for guests at first. Sometimes, a sense of ease that comes from nonchalance is preferable. It's comfortable. And don’t ask Google Maps for local restaurants, ask the staff. Local recommendations always excite. 2 - Feeling like a local. The uniqueness of accommodation begins with locality. The experience of 'staying' to 'living'. Like Airbnb did. It feels more like living in a small apartment in the neighborhood than in a hotel. Plus, step outside and you're right in the middle of downtown. You can walk to any major site, so don't look around and just go straight as if you've been here several times. 3 - Somehow, the rooms are endearing. It's as if grandma was saying, 'You must be tired from the long journey' and then makes you hot chocolate. The combination of red, rich wood, and patterns. Retroness in this modern world feels humane. It's cozy. (Note, not all rooms are designed this way) Summary: This hotel, that started our journey, changed the tiredness of a 20-hour flight into refreshment. I remember the comfort and coziness without any burden. Spaces that feel like someone's home tend to be remembered longer. Room: 312, Price: 300,000 to 400,000 KRW, Parking: Use nearby public parking, Features: Nearby attractions, cafes, restaurants all within walking distance. - Iceland Special Part 1: Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik -
