Suncheon Bay National Garden is Korea's first national garden and the venue for the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, which runs for 7 months from April to October 2023. Spread over a vast area of 193ha, it features a lake park, Ocheon Green Plaza, Garden Stay, National Garden Boat Path, National Garden Botanical Garden, Secret Garden, and Kids Garden. The centerpiece of the location is Bonghwa Hill, located in the middle of the lake park, a work by the world-renowned landscape architect Charles Jencks. The Suncheon Bay International Expo site is divided into a western garden, featuring the Suncheon Bay International Wetland Center and Korean Garden, and an eastern garden with the Lake Garden with Bonghwa Hill, greenhouses, and gardens from various countries. To the north, the site is laid out with O2 Green Garden (west) and Scenic Garden (east) around Dongcheon. The British Garden has become even more special this year, as it has been officially named 'King Charles III Garden' following approval from the British royal family for the use of the king's name. Photos of the King and Queen of England have been placed at the entrance to the garden. King Charles III is known as a lover of gardens. In the face of a global climate crisis, Suncheon City boldly removed asphalt to create these gardens, striving to present a standard model for an eco-city. The admission fee for Suncheon Bay National Garden is 15,000 KRW for adults. It opens at 8:30 AM, operating until 6:00 PM in winter (January, February, November, December), until 7:00 PM during the transitional seasons (March, April, October), and until 8:00 PM in summer (May, June, July, August, September).
