'The Moment Nature Colors' - Cho Hyun Gallery
Situated on Dalmaji Hill with a clear view over the ocean landscape beyond Mt. Wow, the Cho Hyun Gallery sits atop a cliff. The cliffs here serve as a foundation for the artificially constructed building, but it doesn't feel out of place with the guarding trees in front of the building, vines climbing the walls, and naturally placed stone steps.
Climbing up the stone steps to the terrace in front of the exhibition hall, the toothed wheel-shaped roof frames the view of Mt. Wow and the sea. On the other hand, the first floor of the exhibition hall, excluding the folding doors, has no windows, denying the experience of nature.
The disappointment from the first floor vanishes as soon as one steps into the second-floor exhibition room. It's because of the landscape that catches the eye more than the artworks. Without any hindrance, one can see the layers of green nature. As nature changes moment by moment, depending on the weather and the season, this place holds hundreds and thousands of landscape paintings. The chair placed in front of the window seems to be intended for visitors to appreciate the view outside the window as a work of art.
The walls of the exhibition hall are arranged to overlap in multiple layers, creating interesting silhouettes. With proper length adjustment, it piques curiosity by barely revealing the landscape and the artworks, breathing life into the pieces thanks to this exquisite finesse.
The spacious compartment and high ceilings, the interior bathed in nature, and the exterior surrounded by blue leaves encapsulate the beautiful Busan with its cool sea and refreshing sound of waves.
