When you think of traveling to Gyeongju, the first thing that comes to mind is Hwangridan-gil. However, if you have been there too often, or if you are visiting with your parents or children, the narrow space and parking problems are somewhat inconvenient, so instead of Hwangridan-gil, I will introduce 9 cafes in Gyeongju that are full of character. I hope this guide will be a good guide to make your trip a good memory.
Vollkorn
Where the bakery master Paulgon meets Hanok. With a main building, annex, branch, and basement, it's huge enough to be split into so many sections. It's a nice place to go for a weekend outing with the family to Gyeongju without worrying about parking or finding a seat. You can fully appreciate the beauty of Hanok with nature in the tranquil Gyeongju. Located just 5 minutes by car from Hwangnidan-gil, it's highly recommended for large family units who have accommodation in Hwangnidan-gil for its accessibility and comfort. ✔️ 924 Poseok-ro, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, A-dong, La-dong ✔️ 10:00~22:00 (Daily) ✔️ Outdoor pet zone
산내그로브
A high-end villa ambiance straight out of a fairy tale, Gyeongju Sannae Grove - Famous as a biking and camping site, Sannae Grove has recently established itself in Gyeongju Sannae. Visited the newly opened cafe at the right time and saw that many families were visiting. The cafe, painted in butter color with a wide green garden, resembled a villa that could appear in a fairy tale. The interior also preserves the exotic atmosphere seen in the garden and exterior, offering a unique experience. Additionally, being surrounded by mountains, it was a space where one could feel at peace. Visiting with children could create good memories for them.
포워드 카페
Cafe Forward, located a 15-minute drive from Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju at Tongiljeon, boasts attractive pathways and a stylish Hanok exterior. The cafe and its pathways have numerous photo zones, making it a great place to create memories in Gyeongju. You might have already seen many first-photo certifications or short-form videos 🤫 If you're traveling to Gyeongju and have rented a car, make sure to visit outside of Hwangridan-gil!
Eyst 1779
The Modern Transformation of Hanok, Gyeongju Gyodong Village's Est1779
This cafe, recently opened in the Choi's Residence in Gyeongju Gyodong Village, presents an elegant yet chic exterior characterized by tile roofs, pine trees, and red bricks. The interior might be divisive due to the absence of backrests on chairs and tables, suggesting a clean exhibition space instead.
Be sure to stop by if you're visiting Woljeong Bridge!

선셋드몽
Gyeongju CheonGok's vast café, surrounded by beautiful mountain trails, boasts a 2500-pyeong large lawn and a resort-like atmosphere nestled in the mountains. Bringing small toys to the sandy beach is allowed, which seems like a great way to make wonderful memories for children. 🙃
Rustic Coffee
Rustic Coffee, which can be found along a quiet rural road outside Gyeongju, has been transformed from a long-neglected church building by the owner, who runs an oak furniture workshop in Ulsan. The space, imbued with the meticulous care and skill of a woodworker who has long operated a woodworking shop, offers a leisurely ambiance set against the texture of wood.
다과와
A visit to the Financier specialty store Dagwawa, located a short distance away from Gyeongju Hwangnidan-gil. During a brief respite from the heat, every visiting customer ended up packing financiers to go, attesting to its immense popularity. If you like financiers and are stopping by Gyeongju, it would be a great choice 🙃

바실라
Gyeongju Cafe Basilla is famous for its canola flowers in spring and sunflowers in summer. The quaint view of canola flowers and the blue reservoir from the serene traditional Korean cafe is attractive. The canola field on the right of the cafe is in full bloom this week, and the one on the left is expected to be in full bloom from late April to early May. It's also home to a sunflower field that marks the true face of summer, making you want to visit again.
소풍가다
This is about Sopoonggada, a bakery cafe located in Yangnam, Gyeongju. I happened upon this cafe while on a long drive and taking a brief rest. The interior's plant decor and the well-manicured garden outside explain why the cafe is named 'Going on a Picnic.' The variety of seating concepts on each floor, allowing guests to choose according to their preference, was also a highlight. Additionally, there is a Silent Coffee program themed around enjoying my time fully with coffee's taste and aroma, music, and the space. It's a time to enjoy brewing coffee, tea, and desserts in two parts over an hour and a half. Although I couldn't experience it on a weekday, it seems like a great program to focus on with loved ones. Despite being in Gyeongju, it's right above Songjeong in Ulsan! Operating hours: 10:00~19:00 (Mon~Thu), 10:00~22:00 (Fri~Sun). Instagram: @sopoong_gada. Silent Coffee costs between 12,000 and 13,000 (held on Fri and Sat).
