Hotel Grand Saigon
A place to see the past and enjoy the present
-
This building was built on October 24, 1928 by a man named 'Henry Edouard Chavigny de Lachevrotiere'. At first, there were only European-style buildings visible only from the front. And it wasn't a hotel like it is now, but a grocery store. It is at the crossing of 'Misty Dong Khoi Hotel' posted in Ho Chi Minh Story Part 1. The hotel was built relatively long ago and retains its colonial style. However, in 1997, the use was changed to a hotel and the guest rooms were extended. After that, in 2008, another extension was made and it has the present shape. The style of the lower floors is the style of the complete colonial period. However, the extended part has a height and appearance that cannot be seen in the style. There are traces of trying to make it visually similar as much as possible.
-
Although this hotel was not built as an original hotel, it has a fairly decent lobby area. There are high ceilings, gorgeous marble finishes, and comfortable seating areas. Since this was not the original hotel, it can be judged that there is no drop-off zone, but even a relatively recently built 5-star hotel of the same rating, there are few places where the drop-off zone is well prepared. Looking around the area, I could see that a few hotels were well prepared for it. As I said in the first part, since this is 'District 1' where people with high economic scale live, 5-star hotels are concentrated. Today's space, one of them, was my 4th day's dormitory.
-
I only decided where to stay for the first 3 days, and for the rest, I purposely did not book an accommodation in advance. Considering the hot weather I experienced and the inconvenience of having to take GRAP [Southeast Asia Kakao Taxi] to move around with my luggage, I was looking for a hotel within walking distance as much as possible. One thing that caught my eye was the hotel's swimming pool. I chose this place because I fell in love with that one photo, where the building surrounded it in 4 directions and the exotic atmosphere was overwhelming with the plants running around it. Moreover, the style seen from the outside of the building seemed to have a story. Above all, the fact that it was right in front of the dormitory I was staying at was a big advantage.
-
The entrance to the hotel with a trunk. Check in and look around the lobby. While you look around, the staff will hold the elevator for you to take me up. Luggage delivery service to your room. It is a traditional service. The room on the 15th floor. You can see the hotel across from the room window. However, when I got closer and looked to the left, I could see the SAIGON River. midday on a hot summer day. The desire to swim rises. Hurry up, grab your swimsuit and go down to the pool. Nowadays, hotel swimming pools are raised on the upper floors of buildings as much as possible in downtown areas so that swimming in other buildings is not seen. It would have been difficult to expand and raise it. A swimming pool that utilizes the strengths of the space pattern for good reasons. Direct access is available from the first floor. The large towels on the sunbeds and the swimming pool where there was no one were so excited. The swimming pool has a small bar. However, I had to leave soon, so I couldn't enjoy drinking, but just enjoying the pool in the hot weather was very enjoyable.
-
Here, you can enjoy the old-fashioned style, and at the same time, there is a cafe on the roof of the extension. This cafe overlooks the river. The strong wind blowing from the upper floors is due to the hot weather, so it feels rather cool here. Another attraction of this hotel is the rooftop cafe where you can enjoy coffee and cocktails regardless of day or night. It is a great advantage to have a nice space where you can enjoy this city, which is difficult to get around even at night due to the hot weather, only by taking an elevator from your hotel room.
-
This space does not contain the typical characteristics of a summer country, but you can enjoy the style that France looked into during the colonial period. There you can comfortably enjoy modern services and facilities. Also, the cost of a nice swimming pool and breakfast is included in the cost of your stay, so it's perfect.

Arabica Ho Chi Minh City, The Cafe Apartments
Mil-Feuille Tower built by stacking Seongsu-dong
-
It is a space with a structure that is impossible in Korea. But here it is. I continue to explain the city of Ho Chi Minh little by little, but I will go into detail in the last content.
-
This is the most interesting space the author has met in Ho Chi Minh City. This building is essentially an apartment building. However, as in the first photo, the entire building is filled with cafes. In Korea, you cannot turn a residential space into a commercial space. This is especially difficult in the case of apartments. It's not impossible, but it's close to impossible. Often this is not possible except under special circumstances. This building is essentially an 'apartment'. However, each house has been renovated and used as a cafe, restaurant, pub, bar, showroom, etc. to suit the individuality of each house. What is even more interesting is that there are offices and there are still places that are still used as residential spaces.
-
Simply put, this space can be thought of as the mixed urban organization Seongsu-dong, cut into squares and stacked one layer at a time. It is very similar to 'mil-feuille', a dessert made by putting all kinds of ingredients on a single dough and stacking them over and over again. This is Milfeuille, a sweet dessert made with Seongsu-dong.
-
Because it was originally an apartment, there were fewer elevators than commercial spaces. In the case of a commercial space with a large floating population throughout the day, the number of elevators is much higher than that of the residential space from the planning stage, but this building has only one elevator as it is a residential space built a long time ago. So, how do you look around this space beyond the 8th floor? The first is to find the location of the desired cafe through social media. The second is to pay 3000 VND [about 150 Korean Won] to get on an elevator with one, and then go in, looking at each floor starting from the top blue book. The manager of the space is standing in front of the elevator in this space. A sign shows you that you have to pay to take the elevator. It was my first experience as a Korean, so I was a bit embarrassed, but when I thought about the physiology of the space, I immediately thought of an appropriate management policy.
-
The embarrassment disappears quickly, and he climbs up to a higher floor and slowly examines the space. When viewed from the front, it is a plate-shaped apartment type [a form with a plate standing, and newly built apartments these days are usually tower-type. EX. Acro Seoul], but it is actually a L-shaped apartment. There is a stairwell right next to where you get off the elevator. Typical apartment rules. Then, going up half a space, several spaces are arranged to the left at the same height as the spaces on the right are reversed. At the entrance, you can easily tell whether this is a commercial space, a residential space, or an office space. Although it is not possible to separately decorate the signboard or the façade, the most splendid decorations and signboards that can be seen in a residential space define its character. For example, in the case of an 'Asian food restaurant', if there is a signboard that reads 'Thai Food' on the landscaping at the door, lights and small ornaments made of rattan, then this is a Thai restaurant. Even if you don't go one step further, you can enjoy this place just by looking at the scenes that each space shows at the entrance and reveals its character. How many floors did it go down?
-
Now, in the hot weather, I am slowly thirsty. The trouble begins between the places I looked at and the spaces I see from now on. The same moment unfolds when you think about where to go in the city.
-
In a city with a variety of options, choosing whether to 'choose an unexpected meeting or go for a taste you know' is a benefit of a variety of options. As such, we focus on the experience rather than thirst and choose an unexpected encounter like a traveler. I decided to go downstairs from here and go to the third space unconditionally.
-
The space we visited was a cafe with a white interior. A space faithful to the basics with white and wood tones. Although a small apartment has been converted, there are many things that are richer than a typical cafe. There are interesting elements such as high-floor terrace seats or duplex seats. The space the author visited was a place without a 'card reader'. It was a situation where I had to save money, so I was careful, but I gave it to him thinking 'it's just a cup of coffee'.
-
Many people worry that they will be penalized for price or change in Vietnam, but it never happened to the author during his 7 days of stay. Even later, because I trusted and received change, I made a mistake in my calculations and received more money. So, I want to tell you that there is no need to doubt too much.
-
Coffee coming out quickly. The coffee here is usually dark roast. Because of this, the bitter and burnt taste is very strong, and the aroma is hardly felt. If you order an iced Americano, you can feel like eating Starbucks coffee of the day with ice. That is why the term 'Pak Sio' seems to have become popular as a derived drink. Milk and condensed milk are added to strong-flavored coffee, and you can quickly see why this coffee, which is drunk cold, has become popular in Vietnam by adding the unique flavor of coffee, the combination of milk, and sweetness. At the cafes I visited, I ordered a paxio at the same time as I entered, and then an Americano or espresso to the extent that I enjoyed coffee. From experience, it is assumed that the reason is the weather, but I do not know the exact reason. It's a drink that you just order like you're possessed.
-
He comes back after recovering his body tired from looking around the apartment in hot weather.
-
I went out after looking all the way down to the lower floors. When we arrived on the first floor of the stairs, we gave a light greeting to the eyes of the managers who were a little surprised, and ended our little trip in that space.
-
The diversity of the city, the unique use system, the joy of mixed spaces, and unexpected encounters all remain as sweet memories. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that it was an exhilarating experience.

The Myst Dong Khoi
One house, one garden: summer space
-
This is Ho Chi Minh, the economic city of Vietnam. Vietnam is a summer country with hot or very hot weather all year round. Coming to such a country, we can immediately see that the space is very different from Korea. Because there is only one season, the windows of buildings are usually thin or perforated to change to an awning for good shade and ventilation. The temperature here fluctuates between 14 and 34 degrees, so there is no problem with survival. In the case of Korea, it is easy to take -20 degrees in winter, so if there is a problem with windows or insulation in a space, it is so cold that it is difficult to survive. Moreover, summer often rises to 40 degrees, so space needs a lot of space to protect people from an annual temperature of 60.
-
After all, this is a summer country. As such, the space has a unique style. Today's space is a space that makes good use of the characteristics and strengths of the style. District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City [In Korea, it is good to think of it as 'Seongsu-dong 1']. There are many different districts in the city, but this is where the most economically powerful people live. As such, five-star hotels are concentrated here, and there are relatively well-prepared amenities for travelers to enjoy. And this space is also one of the 5 star hotels. Even if you look closely, the space is not a very old building, considering the history of this country. However, looking at the exterior of the space, one interesting thing can be noticed.
-
It can be seen that each presumed room has a different garden. The shape of the floor of this space is not an ordinary rectangle. With the hallway as the stem, the rooms are attached like side branches. Also, the structure of the room and the shape of the hallway change slightly as you go upstairs.
-
If you think of a 5-star hotel, you expect to experience a very large grand space before and after the lobby, but this place reflects the outdoor table culture here, and before entering the lobby, a huge grand space and 'bar, cafe' is shared. This entry space is also a strategic arrangement to serve as a meeting place or to quickly provide 'welcome tea' to guests who struggled to come. It's also wasteful to turn on air conditioning for temperature in a huge space, so you'll have to pass through the shaded outdoor grand space before going to the low-ceilinged lobby. A relatively small lobby. Check in and go up to your room. As a whole, I try to continue to take nature-friendly appreciation. As you can see from the exterior of the building, this place continues to draw the space with plants and trees as themes. Even the interior finish of the elevator is made of good wood, so even the brief moment you ascend, you feel a sense of mellow scent.
-
The corridor is connected to the outdoor space. This means, in effect, that the outside and the temperature are transferred inside. In a country where it's summer all year round, it would be a waste to have to use electricity every day to keep every space cool. The greatest advantage of architectural design is that form can create function. This is well applied here. Although the air is connected, it creates a flow of air through the corridors and windows and gives shade so that the temperature does not rise to a steaming temperature even on a hot day.
-
Passing through this hallway you will find a completely separate room. The room is completely independent of the hallway. This is our first lodging in Vietnam. The interior continues through the visible trees. It may not have been easy to use hardwood floors due to the nature of the hotel, but this is a wooden floor. Nature-friendly views from the trees on the floor and ceiling, and the outdoor spa attached to the room are in harmony with the garden. Although the author's room had only a very small garden, looking at the pictures of the other rooms, it was clear that each room had a special garden.
-
The season is also the reason why you can give each room a small garden. Because of the weather. Also, some rooms have a garden shade that prevents direct sunlight from entering the room. After all, this place is properly protecting the basic conditions that must be satisfied inside the space through the morphological functions of plants and spaces. This is their own space that is impossible in Korea.
-
Moreover, the urban scene created by the 'one house, one garden' style building is also beautiful.

Anh Coffee Roastery
Vines wrap around the space
-
As mentioned in Part 1, this is a summer country. Therefore, there are many spaces that can be freely used on the street or without boundaries inside or outside the space. This is one of them, and it is a space that makes good use of its strengths. Again, this is a space that cannot be experienced in Korea.
-
We cannot easily see the shape of the building's face [elevation: looking at the building from the front] in connection with the interior. This is because the face and interior of the building are cut off by a window or wall as soon as the condition to satisfy the four seasons is applied. Just by looking at this building, you can see that the external curves freely move in and out of the space to create a space. This device not only serves as a decoration, but also serves as a handrail for the stairs. It also rises from the floor and becomes a desk, as well as a partition wall on the ceiling. It is literally the formation of a designed space accompanied by not only decoration, but also aesthetic and functional things. This curved surface is projected onto the floor as it is on the first floor and then rises slightly above the floor again. Some are chairs for customers, and some are lifted up a bit to become desks. And the curve continues to traverse the space and move freely without going up or down. It also builds a kind of visual movement system and weaves the richness of space. The system of space here is the same as in Korea. Order and get a numbered ticket. And if you put it on your desk, they bring you a drink the size of a week.
-
The difference from Korea is more clearly revealed on the second floor. Because there is no winter, the second floor has no windows. There is no separation between the outside and the inside. In particular, if you go up the curved staircase viewed from the outside, you will find the space on the second floor, but this time the curve visually connects the first and second floors. At the same time, it also provides seating. Above the head, this curve continues to be applied decoratively, but if you feel it for a little longer, it plays a role of dividing the space into small pieces. This curve gives vitality to the square-shaped box that could have been monotonous in a way. Continuing to identify morphological advantages, it serves both aesthetically and functionally. Interestingly, this space is located right next to the Architectural University of Ho Chi Minh. For that reason, I was able to see many college students doing their own work with laptops.
-
The fun of peeking at their designs and enjoying coffee in an already fun space has been a great experience for me. In a way, in the floor plan [the view of the building cut horizontally and looking at the floor], there was a line drawn like a nang-kull, but in the cross-sectional view [the building cut like a cake and looked inside], that curve makes the space three-dimensional. You can see it's going up and down.
-
As a Korean who lives in four seasons, it is a moving piece of work that it is not simply a decoration but also a function, and that it can be freely connected to the inside and outside thanks to the weather.

Museum of Ho Chi Minh City
Modern and modern space for acidosis
-
This place was originally designed by Alfred Paul Hongs to display products and products from South Vietnam and was planned for a fair. The building began in 1885 and completed in 1890. During the 130 years of the building, its use has changed continuously.
-
What is interesting is that the owner of this place changes over and over again during the invasion. It was also used as the official residence of the general after being invaded by the Japanese. Unlike its intended purpose, this palace-like place was large and could be used for various purposes. However, since it is also a place designed for the purpose of displaying objects, the museum program that has been established now is very suitable for the purpose of the space.
-
This exhibition exhibits the industrialization process of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, the horrors of war, and the story of this land from ancient times. From the way bronze was made 3,000 years ago to how industrial objects came and remained during industrialization, you can learn more than you might think in chronological order.
-
Although it is a city museum, it is easy to witness many people taking wedding photos here and taking photos to post on Instagram. The space from before the city of Ho Chi Minh was called Ho Chi Minh is actually a place that tells the story of modern times. So, as it is a space that weaves the story of this land with life, not for ornamental purposes, from the past to the present, the scenes that the space shows go far beyond the scope of a general museum.
-
What's more, this museum is not only about the contents of the exhibition, but also the taste of seeing and enjoying the space. *Grand stair, easily found in European styles in the past, refers to the largest stairway in the center of the space. In modern times, it has been transformed into a 'terrace stair' in a department store or a large cultural complex, but the center of the space There is no big change in the method of capturing and creating the most impressive scene), the high ceiling, and the decorative shape of the columns are also the same as those of Europe. From the entrance to the grandeur created by the arrangement of columns to enjoy, the huge staircase that meets at the same time as you enter the huge entrance that is far beyond the height of a person, and the sacredness you feel while going up the second floor, this space is synesthetic as well as historically significant.

S'mores Saigon - Phan Tôn
ma non troppo
-
: But don't overdo it.
-
It reminds me of a place I visited a long time ago at the mouth of Gwangbok-ro, Jung-gu, Busan. It was the summer of 16. It was a time when cafes were just booming in Busan. At that time, a shabby, narrow-floored building in Jung-gu had been turned into a cafe. Although it was small, it was very interesting that he tried to continuously show scenes of the space up to the roof. It is a common type now, but at the time, it was not an easy idea to change all the old buildings like this one by one. The walls and stairs of the old building were kept intact. A space in an appropriate way to protect what needs to be kept, and to break down and change things that need to be changed. The reason I remember that space is because there is such a space here in Ho Chi Minh.
-
To talk about today's space, we need to know the history of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh was occupied by Western countries. France occupied Vietnam here. And at that time, this place was called 'Saigon' as we commonly know it. However, in 1945, in the same year as Korea, Ho Chi Minh was the center and liberation was celebrated. it is liberation And I decided to call this city 'Ho Chi Minh' after him.
-
Since then, cities have inherited a system completely different from that of Korea and developed, but the pattern of city creation is similar. Ho Chi Minh, which developed mainly on agriculture, begins to see capital inflows, and like ours, it depicts a city with a mix of styles. There is the style of the border country of China, the style of Japan, which quickly brought capital to this area, and the modern concrete building with the 'Dome Ino' system applied. At that time, it was difficult to procure the quantity, so there are places where buildings were built in the same way as in Korea [the method of building a building by stacking bricks; Finally, there are French neoclassical buildings built during the colonial period. This city is rich in the style of space. The streets of Paris, where the language of the city is arranged and the horizontal system is applied, is also beautiful, but in terms of urban richness, I think such a city is more beautiful.
-
A space in such a city is the protagonist of today.
-
This space is an old building like the building in Jung-gu, Busan. And the same masonry building. The method is the same, such as tearing down unnecessary parts and reinforcing necessary parts. However, if there is something else, the area of the building seen from the entrance looks small, but it is deep behind. You can go back a long way. Since the floor is a long rectangular shape, the long station, which can be easily seen on average in cafes, naturally fits into the shape of the floor. The stairs are as they were in the past. Old bricks can be seen through the cracks in some places. And as it is a summer country, outdoor seating is a must. On the 2nd floor terrace, you can drink coffee while looking out. And all you need is a seat. Pour concrete again to make a chair and position the desk. Tear down some floors to create a cool open atrium in between. It is narrow and long, but abundant. The sense of space is rich. To get from the second floor to the back, you have to use the stairs about half the floor. There is a middle floor there, but it is still half a floor down, so the floor height is higher than the second floor. None of these spaces have the same floor height or the same floor shape. It creates the maximum sense of space by touching little by little in the frame of the given existing space. Preserving and remembering things from the past, touching only the necessary parts and writing them well. At the same time, glass blocks are beautifully stacked on the facade of the building [viewed from the east, west, south, and north facades] to add a modern appreciation. Of course, the original frame of the building remains.
-
People are doing well here. As it is a cozy and rich sense of space, people are spread out here and there, and the way they sit and do things is different. Couples who use laptops, dating couples, student spaces for homework assignments are abundant, and the actions and scenes of people using them are diverse.
-
So, in order to accompany all of this, the intention of the designer who recognized the historical fact and knew what to protect and change is clearly revealed. A little touch and a little addition. That's it.
-

I absolutely adored the lush and dense atmosphere of a summer alley in Hanoi. Throughout my trip, I also deeply appreciated the natural and richly textured interior unique to Vietnam. Since it was a weekday afternoon, the second floor was quiet, and I loved that each seat offered a different vibe with diverse furniture filling every space. I sat near a long window, and the cool breeze of the summer evening was so delightful that it remains an unforgettable memory of Hanoi. If I ever visit Hanoi again, I would definitely want to stop by this place once more. 🍃 The coconut coffee, in my opinion, seemed sweeter than at Cong Cafe. This could be extremely popular among those who enjoy sweet flavors.

It's been buzzing these days, and Leon only just visited. The space at @delasol.space is meticulously invested in. Below is a space for coffee while above is for events. Leon came early around 9 am when the cafe just opened, so it seemed quiet but got very busy afterward 😅.
Impressed by the spiral staircase here, walking up and down gives a bunch of magical view photos. Saw many people taking advantage of the unique staircase for check-in photos!
Leon's favorite on the menu is the avocado tart, a big fan of Avocado like him should definitely order this, the accompanying avocado cream is fragrantly creamy indeed 🥲🥑. The espresso tonic is fine, the cordial leaf gives a strange but new experience.
Try it out for yourself!

While in Hanoi, I liked the trees and greenery unique to Vietnam, so I ended up visiting the botanical garden. There is a small playground inside, and a promenade is built around a pond in the center. It was nice to feel a different atmosphere because of the thick trees unique to Vietnam. It feels like a good park to take a leisurely stroll, look around, and relax, and the entrance fee is 2,000 VND in Gangnam to the staff at the parasol table at the entrance.

LOGAN STATION Café
- 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - A European-style cafe "station" is located somewhat quiet in An Phu An Khanh residential area, District 2 that I was just introduced by a friend, so I took advantage of it to go and share. Some pictures with everyone here.
🌟About the design of 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, it has a European style that I personally think is a bit vintage and thorny in line with the spirit of The Gentlement Café. On the first floor is divided into 2 spaces indoor and outdoor. With the outdoor space planted by 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 a lot of trees here, so even though I came here in the morning and sat outside, I still didn't feel hot. The interior space on 2 floors of 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is quite luxurious and cozy thanks to the use of furniture with rows of sofas and chairs upholstered in leather and velvet material along with the decoration of orange and yellow lights inside. 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 has both double tables, 4-person tables and long tables for those who come in large groups. Personally, I think it is possible to add to the list of one of the cafes that meet all the criteria for those who need to study, read, work or even find a place to chat or meet. remove friends. In addition, you can also find quality T-shirts and camping mugs at 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
📋About the menu of 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is quite diverse, including a full range of traditional coffee, machine brewed, cold brew coffee and even coffee brewed by hand. In addition, the shop also serves juices, crushed ice, tea, cakes and even savory dishes. The menu I will post in the review of the dishes I use at the restaurant.
- 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗼 & 𝗛𝗮𝗺 + 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 & 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 + 𝗩𝟲𝟬 - These are 2 drinks and 1 cake I used at 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
–
1️⃣𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗼 - Machine-made coffee is so familiar, it's a cup of cappu that suits your taste, freshly whipped milk has just arrived for sweetness along with strong espresso, if you like to drink cappu, don't hesitate. Order this dish when you come to 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
2️⃣𝗛𝗮𝗺 + 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 - A variation on the already forgotten Croissant, I ordered this to serve with a cappuccino, the cake will be warmed by 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 before serving to guests, the crust still retains its degree of freshness. Crispy, with ham inside with a slice of cheese has a moderate salty taste, if you come to the restaurant without having breakfast, you should try this dish 🙌.
🌟In addition, 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 also serves coffees prepared by hand, I order an extra pot of 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 made with 𝗩𝟲𝟬. Besides Kenya, 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 still has many other types of nuts for everyone to choose from, please ask the staff about the type of nuts that 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 currently has.

Saigon Central Post Office
Post Office Carrying History (feat. Gustave Eiffel)
-
Gustave Eiffel, as the name suggests, is the designer of the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris. At that time, the Eiffel Tower was held for the World's Fair [think of it as the present World Expo]. At that time, it was very important to design a space that would become a symbol of the expo as it was a place to show off the national power of Western countries. It is because it is symbolized by the concentration of the state-of-the-art technology and art at the time. However, today, I do not want to tell the story of Gustave Eiffel, but the story of the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City.
-
Ho Chi Minh is now a French colony, though it continues to be told through several Vietnamese stories. Therefore, many French buildings built during the colonial period remain here. The story that focuses on this will be dealt with at the end of the Vietnamese content. One of those spaces, this building, was completed in 1891. 'Eugist Henri Buildeu' and 'Alfred Paul Hongs' were the space experts, and 'Gustave Eiffel' was the one who solved the huge sense of space here with a modern structure.
-
As such, it is a well-built building in European style. Even the sidewalk blocks on the floor are similar to Europe. In particular, this central post office was used as a postal and telegraph facility in French Indochina at the time. The scene shown by the space left after the colonial period is unique in that it is being used in modern times similar to that shown in the past. There are often such buildings in Korea as well. This is now the case with #Korea Electric Power Corporation Seoul Headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, and #Woori Bank Jongno Financial Center in Jongno. Both are used for the same purpose as the space used during the Japanese colonial period.
-
However, if this space is a little different from the ones in Korea, it is that it is a space in which a very famous structural designer participated, and at the same time, it is a facility that can be used and used by both locals and foreigners alike. It may have been difficult to construct a new building, which was often difficult in the circumstances of the past. In that case, it would be much more advantageous to make good use of the remaining facilities. It was brief while telling the story of Mullae-dong in the past, but the Mullae-dong complex, which was built as a lodging village for workers who would make munitions during the Japanese colonial period, was also remodeled and used according to the decisions of the Korean people after liberation.
-
Although it is a space intertwined with various historical facts, the appreciation given by this space has architectural value. Since the post office is simply a space for exchanging letters, it doesn't have to feel so huge and grand, but it is here. Light falls under the grand ceiling and it is easy to see Vietnamese and foreign people alike sending letters or parcels using this post office. In particular, communication and souvenirs are sold in places that stand on either side of the entrance. It is also a space where you can feel like you are really sightseeing when you look around the post office and look at souvenirs.
-
How to use the space left in the past in the present? is a very important story. Space also has the function of recording the facts of history with its existence. As such, it serves as a device to keep people from forgetting that fact, and by making good use of it, it also contains the message that 'it has already risen from the ground up'.
-
A living history book that is well used in the present era, rather than an unused space like the exhibits in a museum, will come closer to conveying the historical facts more vividly.

Sa Pa Lake

Sa Pa Lake, Hồ Sa Pa
Lake Sapa is surrounded by European-style architecture, especially French-style buildings, giving it a strange atmosphere. The Hoang Lien Mountains and European-style buildings harmonize in the ethnic minority valley, creating a unique landscape. In fact, it is said that Sapa was developed as a summer resort during the French colonial period. That's why it's called the 'Alps of Vietnam'. Sapa Lake is not very big and it takes about 15-20 minutes to go around it, so I think it would be good to take a leisurely stroll while looking at the scenery.
St. Joseph Cathedral

Nha Thờ Lớn Hà Nội
Hanoi St. Joseph's Cathedral
Saint Joseph's Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Hanoi.
Built in a neo-gothic style, it is reminiscent of Notre Dame Cathedral.
This church was built in 1886 and has a long history as it is. It is attractive that it can be seen as a trace of history even from the exterior.

Hanoi Train Street

Hanoi Train Street
If you go to Hanoi, you must go to the famous train route. The reason it's famous is that you can really watch the train pass in front of you.
Now that I think about it, it's really dizzying, but when I travel, I feel confident and fearless. There are densely packed shops on the side of the railroad tracks, and there are 1-2 small chairs in front of them. Then, if you sit in the seat of the store that the guide will designate, you can truly experience the train passing right in front of you. It's a bit scary, but it's a unique experience that can't be done in any city other than Hanoi, Vietnam, so I recommend it at least once. Staying in a place where this kind of situation is common for a while will be a strange and fun experience in itself.

- 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻 - Another lovely cafe has just popped up along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1. This shop I saw some friends on insta check-in, so I was curious to follow.
🌟 About the design of 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻, the shop has a fairly simple design, just 2 small courtyards, with a few wooden tables and chairs, surrounded by a lot of green trees to create a feeling of coolness and closeness to nature. There are also a few seats at the bar for those who like to watch the barista mix. I went to the shop in the morning and found it quite quiet. I think 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻 will be suitable for those of you who simply want to find a place to chat or read a book. 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻 Currently there is only outdoor space, so if you like to sit with air conditioning, please note.
📋 About 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻's menu includes a full range of traditional coffee dishes, machine coffee and cold brew coffee. Besides, the shop also serves tea, juices, cakes and even full dishes. The menu will be posted in the post I review the dishes I use at the restaurant
🌟 A cute little shop has just popped up and is waiting for you to try it, try coming to 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻 in the morning, I think you will like it 😊
- 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄 - This is the signature cold brew coffee I used at 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻. Ingredients include mint leaves sprinkled with homemade marmalade and cold brew coffee. I find this dish quite refreshing because the cool taste of mint is clearly shown, the sweetness of this dish created by marmalade is also quite mild, mixed with the taste of cold brewed coffee. If you like cold brew, give it a try.

Sapa Station, Sun Plaza
A photo spot in downtown Sapa, Sun Plaza Sapa Station
If you look at this building alone, it has an exotic exterior like Europe.
This is the place to go from Sapa to the famous Fansipan.
There is a large shopping center inside.
A photo spot that is also good for taking life shots with its vivid primary color exterior.

CPH Saigon Cafe
"CPH Saigon Cafe"
A CPH covered with fresh green trees right in District 1 ️
The space of the restaurant is filled with green from the trees and chills out. Even if you don't use air conditioning, a cool space is still very airy, sitting at work, or visiting a cafe to enjoy the fresh air is nothing better. That vibe is like traveling somewhere chill like the sea or hen oasis.
There is a program to buy 2 cups in the series of 3 new dishes, you will get garlic butter cake for free. The program starts from today until the end of July for those of you who follow Quiz, when you come to show this post to the staff when ordering.
Sitting and talking with friends and then watching a corner of Saigon's cars go by to have a different vibe is also good. You can visit the bar to experience the space & drinks here.
The menu has a variety of coffee, tea or milk tea, all of which are very delicious, I really like them, there are even hot cakes waiting for you to combine with water, which is really very cool to beat the Saigon heat. Now there are some new dishes such as lotus tea, chrysanthemum pear tea, rose lychee shaved ice. The price is always very reasonable. Recommed the garlic bread to eat, it's addicting.
