The daytime Japanese tonkatsu restaurant transforms into a bar at night, serving light snacks alongside sake and beer. It's not uncommon to see places change their menu from a wine bar or pub, but the transformation of this place, from 'Karinji' to 'Linganess Snack Bar' complete with a change in signage, still feels fresh. The Kalmund Pasta, sprinkled with cuttlefish on oil pasta, was surprisingly the most delicious item, offering a unique flavor with the savory scent of fried anchovy. The variety of light snacks such as popcorn, gyoza, and Kimchi Katsu Nabe turned out to be fairly delightful compared to initial expectations, and they mix well with the casually prepared drinks like highball and sake, earning the place a lot of love from local college students since its opening.

Just like any other pasta bar, they serve homemade pasta.

From a course that lets you taste three olive oils from each region of Italy in the first order, to dishes with a local feel and interior decoration, it felt like you were in Italy.
Vongole and Carbonara, one of the representative menu items, were satisfactory in both saltiness and texture.
The salinity seems to be changed upon request, so it would be good to inform you in advance.

And 'Pasta e patate' was the best of the day.

🍝 Unique Western-style menus using Korean ingredients

In front of the red brick building, the terrace in the yard filled with morning light drew attention. The menu was also very unique, stimulating curiosity. That's enough reason to go in!

Seomyeonok is said to be a brand that started in Daegu. There are quite a lot of brands that started in Daegu, such as Ms. Container, Seoga & Cook, and Sinjeon Tteokbokki. Daegu doesn't have special regional food, so I think there are a lot of restaurants with unique brands like this.

Seomyeonok also has its own unique personality, which is a combination of Korean and Western styles. There are many menu items that you can't find anywhere else, such as Jangjorim Pasta, Steamed Chicken Pasta, and Iberico Red Pepper Stir-fry. In addition, there are also unique signature menus such as Jae-hoon's ambitious pasta named after the two owners of the restaurant or Sung-wook's avocado salmon Benedict.

I ordered Jae-hoon's ambitious pasta, topped with sesame leaf pesto pasta and Iberico ribs steak. You can wrap the ribs in sesame leaf pasta and eat them together, but the ssamjang sauce also came out, giving the impression of a pasta reinterpretation of ssamjang. The menu is so attractive both in taste and personality! Indeed, it was called ambitious work.

Now that autumn is getting cooler, I think it's a good place to have a glass of wine on the terrace and enjoy various menus.

Soi Yeonnam, famous for “there is no end” Thai-style rice noodles, has grown into a catering company with six branches. It's been a long time since it's been successful, but it's at the end of Yeonnam-dong, so I've been going every time, but I'm only now here. The taste that overshadows the wait, of course, makes you realize the reason for its fame😌 The thick beef rice noodles have a different flavor from Vietnam, and the tomyang rice noodles are the best if you have a strong tolerance for spices like me... 👍 Strangely, the cilantro option is only attached to yumyang, but if you add a lot of coriander to the beef rice noodles, the taste is doubled, so don't forget to add it!🙆‍♂️

Yeonnam _ Wilderness

An Italian restaurant located in Yeonnam Alley, despite its strong name, the shop is a mixture of simplicity and elegance.

The warm feeling of wood tone is good to enjoy Italian food. I ate pasta with red shrimp and capers delicately cooked, and risotto topped with pork belly and bacon.

Despite the price of around 20,000 won per menu, it feels like they use very good ingredients. However, the risotto is honestly a little disappointing.. (Not that it doesn't taste good.)

Near Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Magnolia is a renowned Chinese restaurant operated by chef Lee Yeon-bok. The place, converted from a family home, carries both a typical Korean restaurant vibe and a clean, modern atmosphere, presenting an unexpected facade for a Chinese restaurant. Chef Lee, who began his career as the youngest head chef at the Taiwan Embassy in his early 20s, later moved to Japan in the late 80s to run his restaurant for a decade. There, combining the skills he acquired with Chinese cuisine, he made significant contributions to fusion cuisine. Due to Chef Lee's fame, getting a reservation is tough, but the welcoming smile from the staff upon arrival makes any waiting displeasure vanish. The signature dish, braised pork belly, literally melts in your mouth, overshadowing the greasiness of pork with its tender texture. Potstickers are served in a count of 8, symbolizing the Chinese character for fortune. These have a crispy surface while remaining juicy inside, offering a unique blend of textures. The sweet and sour pork boasts a less predominant sweetness, appealing to traditional tastes with high-quality pork loin and a thinner batter, making for a delightful bite. However, reservations need to be made a month in advance, requiring patience due to the high demand.
