I like glass blocks. My favorite construction material is 'brick' because I enjoy how it becomes more dignified over time with its heavy and solid feeling. Next, I like 'glass blocks.' This material, usually square-shaped and either translucent or opaque, might have been seen in swimming pools or old schools during one's childhood. In Korea, glass blocks are mostly used only in parts of a space. I know of a franchise coffee shop near Gwanghwamun that is entirely made of glass blocks, but it's hard to find larger-scale uses. A notable example abroad is the Hermes building in Ginza, Tokyo, and the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design building in the Netherlands. The reason I like glass blocks is simple. As a child, I used to go to swimming lessons in summer. The windows there were all made of glass blocks. Whenever I did several laps of freestyle, I would become breathless quickly and rest by the poolside, leaning on my arms and gasping for breath. I always liked the moments when I felt warmth from the faint sunlight coming through those windows, with my head laid toward the glass wall. Moreover, the fact that it doesn't completely block out the visuals from outside but doesn't specifically allow anything from outside to be visually discerned also played a role. Perhaps I thought of it as a mysterious wall that lets light in while ensuring privacy. Therefore, when I see buildings that use a lot of glass blocks, I always make sure to visit them. I recently visited the Hermes space in Ginza, Tokyo for the same reason. Today's space is not entirely completed with glass blocks but contains the charm of glass blocks, so I rushed there in a heartbeat. The exterior adorned with old-fashioned tiles, and among them, there are rounded parts where the staircase is surrounded by glass blocks. From the outside, the warm light projected inside and the twinkling orange of the glass blocks looked really good. Inside, there were cozy, retro-style interior accessories that matched well with the glass blocks. They even have a variety of desserts prepared. As this is a space I found based on my personal preference, I introduce it in case there are others who like glass blocks as I do. This place is #vvsmuseum near Sungshin Women's University. Sungshin Women's University Shinsang Hanok Cafe Spatz: SPATZ is said to be the fourth space newly opened by the owner, who usually likes sparrows, after pubs, osterias and pochas. It was nice to enjoy coffee while feeling the cool autumn weather by providing seats in a 'C' shape in a remodeled general hanok house. The Home Seoul
A hanok cafe hidden in a residential alley near Bomun Station The Home Seoul The Home Seoul is a cafe located near Bomun Station on Line 6. The area near Bomun Station is known as a neighborhood with many attractive cafes, and I was able to meet The Home Seoul in a quiet residential alley. This is a hanok cafe with a quiet feeling, and it boasts a cozy feeling while being cozy. Although it is a hanok cafe, modern sensibility is added throughout the space to create a different mood, and I think there are parts that are more attractive because the space is not too big. It would be great to have a cafe like this in the neighborhood. ⠀ Inside, there are about 5 tables, and although the interior space is not large, the space between the tables as far as possible stands out. The representative is also kind, and looking at the cafe's Instagram, it seems that there is a good deal. It must be such a beautiful space, so it would be good to refer to it before visiting. ⠀ ⠀ 📍 Coffee beans ⠀ - This is a drip coffee store. - The beans are being used as single origins from Mandeling Indonesia. ⠀ ⠀ 📍 Coffee ⠀ I ordered drip coffee, and it was a coffee that I could feel the savory taste and the chocolate taste from the first taste. ⠀ ⠀ 🎶 Music ⠀ The Home Seoul's music is colored with R&B and Lo-Fi music. Although R&B may differ from place to place, the Lofi that fills the hanok is different each time, leaving a good impression of the space. You seem to have chosen the music well, and the music didn't bother you too much while enjoying the space. 📍 87, Inchon-ro 1-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul 📍 13:00~22:00 / Closed on Tuesdays 📍 No Kids Zone
구룡포계절회집
'Guryongpo Seasonal Raw Fish House' located near Sungshin Women's University Entrance Station. As autumn approaches, this place becomes a destination for tasting its signature menu, the silverstripe round herring sashimi and salad. The menu varies with the season, but in fall, it exclusively offers the silverstripe round herring. The visual of whole silverstripe round herring sashimi already makes one's mouth water. Although the silverstripe round herring's fat content is still lacking, making for a slightly disappointing experience, its unique form, difficult to find in downtown Seoul, was also appreciated. It's a place with quite a waiting list, so it would be wise to call ahead before visiting.

The moment I took a bite out of 'Pishik' finangsi, I laughed involuntarily. And his mouth was filled with the smell of eggs. * Financier - I want to describe it as similar to the moment I ate egg tart at Porto, a French tea cake baked with egg white, almond powder and butter. Of course, egg tarts and financi are completely different, but you can be confident that the happiness you get when you take a bite and the smell of eggs that spreads in your mouth are similar. Please feel the smell of eggs 🙏🏻 * 'Mobler' has a small space. Therefore, if you want a quiet atmosphere, I recommend Open Attack :)
맛나순대국
Mat-na Sundae-guk, an old restaurant near Sungshin Women's University Station. This place, visited mostly by the elderly locals, is named after sundae soup but is well-known for excelling in all kinds of side dishes. Personally, I was impressed with the crispy texture and the generous amount of chewy squid in the squid and chive pancake, the head meat suyuk with a visual reminiscent of ordering jokbal, and the soolguk which was the perfect hangover cure.
오백집왕족발
In Donam-dong, known more commonly as the entrance of Sungshin Women's University, two places come to mind when someone visits and it's a day for serious soju drinking. These places, considered part of Korea's 'soul food', have been long-verified by the locals and are introduced as 'local food' of Seoul. Among them, the 'village's mainstays' are [Taejo Potato Soup] and [Five Hundred Hats Pig's Feet]. Focusing on pig's feet for now, the title of 'Seoul's Top 3 Pig's Feet' could offer an interesting experience for those curious about how these rankings are determined. After visiting all three unofficially recognized top spots for pig's feet, it became clear that preference plays a significant role in choosing a place, offering a rich variety of options. Particularly, the 'freshness' found at [Five Hundred Hats Pig's Feet], despite being a new alternative against the conventional bias of the 'Top 3 Pig's Feet' list, makes it a preferred choice. People tend to choose it for an adventurous selection when strolling through Donam-dong's Rodeo street near Sungshin Women's University. Despite a high turnover rate, expect some waiting on busy nights. They offer an answer to the lethargy of day drinking with their signature plain flavor and accompanying vegetables like green onions, enhanced by the robust service of friendly aunts.
Radical Brewing Club
“Coffee pick-up shop” If you like coffee, the first thing you tell them apart is whether they have acidity or not. If you go further from here, you will find more and more subdivided tastes like body, cup notes, and wine. The Radical Brewing Club does not have its own roasted coffee beans, but has gathered beans from famous roasteries and local roasteries from all over Seoul in one place. These beans are charted according to acidity and body, and the barista recommends the beans that best suit your taste. The coffee beans I chose are from the Busan Cafe 'Momos Coffee', which was stamped with extreme acidity and body. It's an Ethiopian coffee bean, and as I said, the tropical scent spreads in my mouth, because I repeated my inner samba dance 20 times🤷♂️ There are coffee beans from various roasteries, and these coffee beans are also changed periodically, so it seems like a cafe you should go to as if you were subscribed😌
Cafe Dazzling
The quaint and compact Dazzling Cafe, located near the main gate of Korea University, is easily accessible by public transportation. Ordered apple crumble, triple berry ade, and iced Americano. The Americano wasn't personally tasted but came highly recommended by a companion. The apple crumble comes with ice cream, which quickly melts. It's packed with a decent amount of apples. The ade is also filled with various types of berries. It seems they don't skimp on the ingredients, but I can't fathom why the flavors feel lacking. Slightly disappointing. The space is nicely arranged, so it could be suitable for studying during less crowded times.
