Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do
This cafe, and its outstanding foreign-style appearance caught my attention while passing Jeolla Gamyeong and heading towards Gyeonggijeon. The entrance proudly displays 'Hand drip! Espresso!' in serif typeface, giving a certain gourmet vibe which turned out to be spot on. The wonderful wood-toned interior which perfectly reflects the facade is absolutely impressive. The memorable first floor with its dark green tiled walls features a long bar table and a window-side table employing natural light, while the second floor also has quite a number of tables. The wall of the second floor is adorned with various frames and props.
Most of the menu items are coffee, with the Goldilocks coffee and the Triple Choco seemingly the signature drinks. The Goldilocks is akin to an Einspanner coffee topped with cream, while the Triple Choco is a hot chocolate with a thick layer of chocolate. I chose the Triple Choco as I currently prefer non-coffee drinks, and even added an extra shot.
The look of the Triple Choco is an art in itself. It used to be quite trendy in Seoul, if I remember correctly. Its taste is far superior to what I had back then. The slightly bitter taste, as opposed to just sweet, made it very satisfying. If you don't like overly sweet things, it's advisable to add an extra shot when ordering. The ambiance of the cafe and the messy cocoa powder on the Triple Choco complemented each other perfectly. I strongly recommend trying the Triple Choco at least once.
