Mi Rae Nong Won was founded on the idea of making the space everyone dreams of in their hearts a reality, but doesn't exist anywhere. A project that transformed a landscaping nursery cultivated by the father into a new space by the son, featuring a gallery, cafe, dining, studio, and more. Despite its proximity to the road, the noise and visibility from the road are minimized by relatively high wooden fences and bamboo plants, creating a year-round verdant garden. The building, once a lumber warehouse, retains its original exterior walls and raw mood, with an outdoor space that enjoys light through the roof and the external landscaping. The central oval courtyard, acting as a massive light well, is the symbolic space of Mi Rae Nong Won. Design studio LOCI, which designed this marvelous secret garden-like outdoor space in the city, was established in Seoul in 2010 and is an architectural group led by architect Ichihun, focusing on various scales of built environment through analysis of social conditions of cities and architecture.
