Jungnangcheon This is the name of the stream flowing in Nowon-gu. It is a stream that starts in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, passes through Uijeongbu, and passes through Nowon-gu and Dobong-gu in Seoul. The name of Nowon-gu is Jungnangcheon. In the Hannae Neighborhood Park near the Jungnangcheon Stream, there was an abandoned fountain.
-
In fact, it is difficult to imagine the appearance of the fountain. However, it was easy to see that this place was well used because many residents in the neighborhood park enjoyed the public space very well. Grandmothers chatting on a regular basis, and parents bringing their children to play. And today's space, located at the corner where the bridge and the road meet, at the end of the neighborhood park, was being used better.
-
Although the small-scale library fountain is not visible at all, and it is not built with high-quality materials, I would like to say that it is a perfect space for this place.
-
This place, which has relatively few cultural benefits compared to other regions, was designed to provide some of it. It may have been difficult to give many cultural benefits to a small floor area from the beginning, but the space is fulfilling its role. Various programs such as childcare, small library, community meeting, and cafe are being used well according to time and space division. The appearance of this space is a shape made by weaving gable roof houses like an intersection. So, the bottom part of the space inside has no choice but to intersect continuously. The wall becomes a bookshelf, the desk becomes a reading table, and the staircase becomes another reading room. At the same time, if you walk a little bit, it becomes a cafe from somewhere. I can't tell if it's a cafe or a place to read a book, but there's no problem with writing. At times, it seems to be a place where locals chat with each other. At the entrance, there is also a caretaker so that children can spend time with books and wait for their parents. Children enjoy going up and down these stairs and reading books. Some residents are quietly reading a book, but it seems that they cannot hear the surrounding noise.
-
The size is very small. However, the scenes that the space shows are clear. Rather than different scenes according to time, all the scenes overlap like an intersection. This would not have been possible if it had been a huge national and public library. This is because, in the library, modesty is maintained as a standard. However, the residents who are well aware of what is happening here in the first place are taking this into account and using the space. To that extent, like the form of space, the scene of space continues to intersect, creating a rich scene.
-
Lastly, because of the trees surrounding the space, the scene outside the window of a small space is constantly hung with greenery. The scene outside the window meets the tree, the material of the bookshelf, to make you feel as if you are in the forest. Moreover, despite not using expensive and flashy materials, it is very beautiful because the interior scene and exterior form beauty stand out well.
-
Let's wrap this up here.
-
The intersection of scenes that space shows, the harmony it creates. The atmosphere of the space created by overlapping the materials inside and the view outside the window. and overlapping buildings. It is a place where the stories of space continue to overlap depending on the form, creating fruitful moments.

Chaegro is a Han River view book cafe near Mapo Station on line 5. Occupying the 2nd, 6th, 8th, and 9th floors of a 9-story building, each floor in Chaegro offers a unique Han River view and an array of books fitting for a book cafe. Depending on the purpose of the visit, this place is already famous as a sunset hotspot and a cafe conducive to work. This was my first visit. The view is excellent, and there are various seating options including spaces where shoes must be removed, window seats, and shared tables, so you can choose based on your needs. Note that the 9th floor prohibits talking and is aimed at providing a quiet space. Those who need to talk should choose between the 6th and 8th floors. The music at Chaegro features instrumental and classic tunes, mostly comprising calm piano pieces, fitting for a book cafe. Being able to enjoy such a view with music that doesn't detract from the experience makes me truly grateful.

Enjoy and capture the tail end of autumn at a bookstore & cafe located between the seasons of autumn and winter in Pilun-dong, Seoul, near the Sajikdan area. Book Salon Textbook, the ginkgo view specialty cafe and curated bookstore, impresses with its homely, comfortable atmosphere. Unlike the bustling streets, it offers a quiet and serene space with books and music of taste, along with a charming view outside the window. Here, you can smoothly read books while enjoying coffee, beer, and wine options like Americano, Cafe Latte, and Jeju Ale. It's a place worth visiting any season for a good read.
Chungwoon Literature Library
The Hanok contains the seasons. Hanok is a space in harmony with nature. It is a space with the sound of water, wind, landscape, and birds. If you enjoy the sound of book turning here, you can probably say, 'I thoroughly enjoyed this fall.' I did 'Fall Leaves, Reading' all at once. - We cannot hear the sounds of nature. - As of 2018, 91.8% of the population lives in cities. Can we hear the sounds of nature? Most of the population lives within the city, and the residential space is adjacent to the driveway. Open the window and let in the wind, but at the same time you can hear the sound of cars and construction sites at the same time. Wait, I think we should look into the lives of our ancestors long ago. - Can't we live in a hanok now? - Not true. There may be a clear gap with modern technology, but with a little tweaking, you will be able to live well. As such, a hanok is an 'architectural style' in which the environment is well-contained as an architectural space. In particular, 'Ondol' is a building system in preparation for winter, and the daecheong floor and eaves for summer. In addition, hanok is the culmination of technology that hides many details in preparation for the four seasons of Korea. In such a space, at the same time, the appreciation of the lyrical space may be superior to that of the current space. - In hanok, when it is hot in summer, all the bars are lifted. The eaves create a shadow, and the open space back and forth moves outside air and creates wind. And with those open windows, the noise of the city is not heard as it is now. You can hear the sounds of nature riding in the sunlight in the wide yard. Such is the case with hanok, which is closely related to the land. Looking at the layout of the hanok where nobles lived long ago in the village range, the better the hanok, the more it is located on a hill in the mountains. The reason can be interpreted by the social background at the time, but in the light of modern times, this is also in line with the concept of a 'penthouse'. height. high space. nice space. That's what our ancestors were on the hillside in the past. A little bit more natural. It is secluded here. Surrounded by forests, it is a pro-natural arrangement closer to the sound of nature rather than the sound of a marketplace. If you have been to Hahoe Village and Yangdong Village, you may be familiar with this story. - Gakseol, today's space is located on Inwangsan, a hill with clear clouds. If you go up the hill after passing through the literary center of poet Yun Dong-ju, you will see a hanok built in the mountains. Today's space has to go down stairs like this. As you try to move from the top of the hill to the hollow terrain, you will feel more secure and protected. And the moment your feet touch the ground. On the human scale, we are surrounded by nature. You can hear the trees rustling in the wind. A splendid hanok greets visitors with its eaves raised high in the corner and dignified appearance. - When entering a hanok, take off your shoes. A cool breeze blows through the open doors. All you can see are trees and sunlight, and all you can hear is the sounds of nature. There is the sound of water dripping from somewhere. Without realizing it, I move along with that refreshing sound. There is a small annex at the very back of the space. It is a space that is just right for 4 people to sit around the table, and water is dripping through the window. I put it in my bag and take out the book I've been reading whenever I have free time. Somehow, reading seems to work well here. - I read deeply without realizing that there were people waiting, so I had to come back. It was only a few minutes, but it was a very refreshing time. The wind blows and the scenery resonates. I looked up and looked down at the sunlight, and there is a basement in a hanok. - Out of curiosity, there is a modern space in the underground space I went down to. Instead, 'Courtyard' and 'Bamboo Garden' considered vertical connection with hanok. This is a library oriented towards Korean literature. Although it is a small space, the library contains a variety of atmospheres, and a moderate number of people who have chosen a space according to their taste are enjoying reading. The sound of bamboo is heard through the open garden door. - You can hear the sounds of nature continuously in this space. - Here we can hear the sounds of nature. - This is #Cheongwoon Literature Library located in Inwangsan Mountain, Jongno-gu. - Location _ 40, Jahamun-ro 36-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul - Parking _ Available [Narrow] - Opening hours _ 10-22 [Monday closed] - PS. Songpa Book Museum
For the first time, Songpa residents were envious. This is because the Songpa Book Museum is nearby. Songpa Book Museum is the first public book museum in Korea, where you can look back on the past and present of books and get a closer look at the process of creating a book. From the permanent exhibition room to the special exhibition room, a large-scale reading space, an open studio, and a children's studio, various spaces are organized under the theme of books, so that even those who have never been very interested in reading can rethink the value and meaning of books. All the spaces were well laid out, so I stopped for a while wherever I went, but among them, the space that reproduced the writing rooms of leading writers in the domestic literature world, such as Jeong Yu-jeong, Kim Hoon, and Lee Byung-ryul, drew attention. It was a meaningful time to resonate with their worldview for a while through the collections that they could write in a delicious way, such as manuscript papers, drawing maps, reporting notes, cameras, and books. ✔️ add. 77, Songpa-daero 37-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul ✔️ insta. @songpa_bookmuseum ✔️ Closed on Mondays

Private Libraries Public libraries are also providing great spaces these days, but there is still room for improvement in the quality of public spaces. In such a case, if there are those who wish to have a better time, even if they pay money, this is the right place. There are also good restaurants and cafes. The beautiful and moderately quiet private library will be enjoyable to stay in the building all day. - The forest that grew up with me - The Geumjeong Library where I went while holding my mother's hand. At that time, when I was not interested in knowledge and stories, it was just an ascetic path for pork cutlet and ramen. Still, because the library is a space where everyone should be quiet, I turned it into a quiet playground. The scent of the bookshelves and the old books made me think of a forest as a young child. The small body was able to enjoy the space and had a lot to imagine. It was a fun space to hide behind a wooden pole to avoid a virtual villain, and just pretend to observe the enemy's movements through the leaves of a book. - That's how I became a middle school student because of my interest in the library space, and now it's not a playground made of forest, but a forest of knowledge where I can find out what I don't know. I still can't forget the psychology book I took out out of curiosity when I was in middle school. I brought this book out because I was curious about the human psychology, but it was because it made it more difficult to understand. - After middle school and high school, now that I learned knowledge, it was time to acquire that knowledge. The library has changed from a forest of knowledge to a forest for entrance exams. A small note from the person in front of me and a secret and cute love story could have come out, but I was in an extremely ordinary reality. The forest of entrance exams that flowed so haphazardly disappeared naturally after leaving Busan and moving to Tokyo. - As a sophomore, poor foreigner, I needed a job. Luckily, I was selected as a working scholarship student at the school. Moreover, it was the work of the school library. Now, this place has changed from the forest of entrance exams to the forest of life. I stayed up all night to come to the library and move secret books to the secret warehouse. They moved large and heavy old books and secretly stole sentence by sentence. It was hard work, but I still didn't hate the space called the library. This is my old library story. And the library has never been visited for purposes other than tourism. - In the spring of this year, I heard that there was a nice library in Seoul. What's more, strangely, the news that they paid money to enter broke my interest. This is because the idea of a library as a public open space was so interesting and novel for me. - How about a library that pays money? - It was only when I visited this library in the expensive land of Cheongdam-dong that the question was solved. Tonkatsu Ramen was not sold at this library. It was stunning fine restaurant food that anyone would drool over. On one side, there was a cafe these days. There were no shabby wooden bookshelves, and the space was used as a library here. It could be seen that this space was entirely for activities related to books. A nice road desk and a design chair were placed in place of the damaged wooden desk and squeaky wooden chairs. The quiet and pleasant air and the wonderful experience of climbing up the stairs and taking out a book. It's worth the money Now the times have changed. The library space also responded closely to the demands of the times. This will be one of those reactions. - This is #Sojeonseorim, located in Cheongdam-dong, a forest of writings surrounded by white bricks. - Location _ 23 Yeongdong-daero 138-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul - Parking available - Business hours _ Tue-Sat 11-23, Sun 09:30-18:00, closed Mondays - Admission _ Full-day pass 50,000 won, half-day pass 30,000 won - Often at library events So, it would be better to go to the official account and check it out. Please note that there is no inconvenience in using the space-🙏🏻🤧”

Let's enjoy reading leisurely at the library that embraces architectural beauty and nature in autumn, the season of Cheongomabi. Yangcheon Park Book Shelter, which opened in November of last year, boasts a beautiful architecture enough to win the Grand Prize at the 2021 Republic of Korea Public Architecture Award and the Excellence Award at the 2021 Seoul Architecture Awards. Built along the lawn line, this attractively curved exterior draws attention, and when you step inside, you will find a more wonderful space where nature, rest and people harmonize. Through the long windows and folding doors, you can take a break with a book while taking in the beautiful nature in each season, from the thick greenery to the colorful autumn leaves and the romantic snow scene with white snow falling on the branches. There are parks and playgrounds around the shelter, so just sitting and looking at the outside will purify your mind. Even if you don't have a lot of interest in reading, it is a place where you can open your own book thanks to the beautiful architecture and space. Isn't this also one of the pure functions of public architecture? ✔️ add. 111, Mokdongdong-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul ✔️ insta. @ycparkfriends ✔️ 🚘 Use public on-street parking

Wirye 'Book Power Plant' is a book cafe that combines a bookstore and a cafe, where you can find a variety of books divided into trends and categories of the times. Cafe Comma

Taking a slight detour from the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, a quiet air fills the neighborhood of Yeonnam-Dong's back alley.
Café Combien, situated in this place, is a bookstore space for those who enjoy tranquility.
The bakery factory on the first floor fills the space with the smell of butter, and as you ascend the stairs to the second and third floors, endless shelves of books line the walls.
The diverse books, sunshine coming in through the windows, soothing melodies that tantalize the ears, and delicious coffee and bakery wake up the five senses of the visitors.
For those who wish for a time of concentration and rest, I recommend you to visit here and take some time to experience it directly.

As the introductory phrase 'a bookstore with art and exhibitions' suggests, it curates and introduces art-related books such as photography, architecture, and fashion, and also hosts small-scale exhibitions in related fields. Above all, the clean and sensual interior makes you step here. The beauty of the space itself is so great that each book looks like an object.

The Book Society

The Book Society, a bookstore and project space, was opened in 2010 by Mr. Im Gyeong-yong, who worked at The Books at Art Sonje Center, and Ms. Koo Jeong-yeon, a curator at Zero One Design Center. The place handles independent publications, which means it often faces operational challenges due to low profitability. However, they believe that providing independent publications can contribute positively to society, however small that contribution might be.
Initially passing through Sangsu-dong and Hapjeong-dong before settling in Tongui-dong, they wanted to create furniture with consistency. Since the building is newly constructed, they aimed to give a perception of a 'building within a building.' Collaborating with architects and designers, they painted various pieces of furniture yellow, adding a sense of unity to the space and creating areas where people can sit and hold book launches while storing books.
The logo color of The Book Society was purple, but they found the complementary yellow intriguing.
They have been active for more than 10 years, participating in several book fairs and art events, importing books from various countries. Especially since the book market is not very active in Southeast Asia, importing books was challenging but made possible through publishers met at book fairs.
Among the diverse topics, a photo book dealing with what is left after the Olympics caught their eye. It highlighted the aftermath, focusing on unused facilities and waste, shedding light on another side of the Olympics.
So, is it worth a visit? Although the location is not optimal, it is recommended for those who enjoy independent bookstores. The pleasure of seeing books from various countries is quite special.
