The brunch dining Orzole Beautemps opened in Apgujeong is a place opened by Chef Kang Jin-su of the Michelin Plate famous restaurant Osteria Orzo in Hannam-dong. The menu includes brunch favorites such as Eggs Benedict and French Toast, French Onion Soup, as well as dining options like Ragout Pasta, Truffle Carbonara, and Steak, and desserts including Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée. True to the reputation of Osteria Orzo, I was satisfied with all the dishes ordered, and it felt luxurious with the staff's kindness.

A place to taste the distinctive 'Ieke Ramen', a new genre of ramen started in Yokohama. 'Senjairyoku' is a fantastic ramen shop where you can properly experience its taste. The exterior, from its name written in bold letters on a white background to the bicycles and vending machine in front of the shop, exudes a Japanese vibe that captures your interest. The menu offers two types of ramen: 'Him Ramen' and 'Shin Ramen'. 'Him Ramen' is basic, and 'Shin Ramen' has spicy seasoning added to it. A notable difference is the spinach topping. Plus, you can add sliced green onions, and their visual appeal and taste are highly recommended! The broth is based on soy sauce with chicken and pork. Hence, it seems to be referred to as 'Tonkotsu Soy Ramen'. Many find it a bit salty, but it was pleasantly salty to me. The thick noodles had a good texture, and the soft chashu was delicious. Topping the chashu with a little sliced green onion and wrapping it up tastes like heaven. Various seasonings such as doubanjiang, green chili pepper, minced garlic, and kelp vinegar are prepared, and it is recommended to try different tastes while eating. They offer rice for free, which is not ordinary as it’s flavoured with pork, chicken fat, and Sichuan pepper. A satisfying and authentic Japanese meal can be enjoyed at this fabulous ramen shop.

A striking presence in the conglomerate of buildings in the Apgujeong Rodeo station area, delivering a clear image with its distinct, sharply rising design among the commonly seen rectangular structures. The sunlight in the afternoon accentuated its presence, with a spacious brick-front area allowing for an uncramped entrance. This marks my first encounter with Fromheras, known as the first coffee bean curating shop in Korea. - The content displayed immediately upon entering are variously roasted coffee beans and tea leaves, neatly arranged in a glass showcase, providing a visual experience distinct from other cafes even before tasting the flavors. The sophisticated bar design in dark brown and indirect lighting contribute to the atmosphere too. - During my visit, I kept hearing camera shutters, particularly around a corner displaying desserts, which doubles as a photogenic spot. These desserts, glowing under natural light, compel visitors to take photos, inspired by food magazine-like presentations. - The spaciousness afforded by the repurposed standalone house, with its elongated tables and free-flowing interior minus the doors, allows for casual movement between rooms. The familiar pop music playing from quality speakers adds to the ambiance. - The second floor offers a more complex interior, intentionally unadorned yet visually layered through lighting and bookshelves, revealing a purposely understated yet delicate arrangement. The coffee ordered was a Colombian decaf ice Americano with a deep roast, featuring nuances of plum, dried cherry, and yuja. The texture is medium, not too light, with a clean aftertaste highlighting the taste's focus on the early to mid-palate. The pecan tart, covered in a sweet glaze, is not just about the crunchy texture but also about the melt-in-your-mouth richness, with a filling that lightly touches on cinnamon sweetness, pairing well with coffee.

오래전 아주 유명한 영화 ‘다빈치 코드’ 이 영화는 주인공인 로버트 랭던[톰 행크스]이 자신의 직업인 ‘종교 기호학 교수’라는 점을 이용해 단서 속 사인과 기호의 해석을 통해 숨겨진 보물을 찾아가는 영화로 잘 알려져 있다. 물론, 모종의 암흑 세력으로부터 쫓기며 단순히 기호만 푸는 이야기라기보다 액션을 가미한 추리 명작 중 하나이다.

그 영화에서 보면 주인공 로버트 랭던이 기호나 그림 그리고 도시에 숨겨진 장식을 따라 찾고자 하는 무언가를 찾는 장면들이 나온다. 이런 장면이 비단 보물찾기에만 국한되는 것은 아니다, 오늘의 공간은 공간에서도 이런 시각적 장치를 활용해 숨겨진 무언가를 찾을 수 있도록 할 수 있다는 가능성을 보여준다.

오늘의 공간은 초콜릿 브랜드 고디바의 리저브 스토어라고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 여느 다른 리저브 스토어와는 달리 내부에서 일어나는 행위가 평범해 보이는 것도 사실이다.

하지만 이곳의 비밀은 공간을 외관에서부터 잘 살펴봐야만 알 수 있다.

외관을 잘 살펴보면 붉은색 초콜릿 덩어리를 은유하는 거대한 직육면체가 공간의 얼굴 한편에 박혀있다. 그리고 그 붉은 오브제가 공간 내부를 따라 들어가는 것을 볼 수 있다. 내부를 들어가서도 외부에서 보였던 그 오브제가 내부 끝을 따라 연결됨을 알 수 있다.

수상할 정도로 계속해서 공간에 등장하는 이 오브제는 공간에서 무언가를 가르치는 역할을 한다고 봐도 좋다. 반복해서 쓰이는 공간의 표현법은 대체로 의미를 내포하고 있다.

이 오브제를 따라 계속 내부로 이동하면 또 다른 방의 입구가 나온다. 특히 이곳은 내부가 대체로 화이트엔 우드로 밝은 감상을 하고 가다 오브제가 끝나는 곳만 검정의 입구를 만들어 두고 방문객을 기다리고 있다.

수상한 입구는 여지없이 인간의 호기심을 자극하고 금단의 문을 열게 만든다. 검정 문을 열고 들어가면 나오는 비밀의 방. 이곳은 이 공간의 메인 장면인 디저트 레스토랑이다. 입구에서 내부까지 통일되게 보이는 밝은 감상은 없고 검은 문과 더불어 어둡고 분위기 좋은 고급 레스토랑의 감상을 보여준다. 특징적으로 계속 보여주던 붉은색 오브제는 이 공간에서 천장의 조명부에 이용되며, 내외부가 외브제의 주 컬러로 또 형태의 유사성으로 통일되고 있음을 알려준다.

이렇게 공간에서 비밀을 찾고자 한다면, 의심스럽도록 과도한 장치나 혹은 반복되는 표현을 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 그 공간적 기호를 해석하고 모두가 달콤한 보물을 찾길 바라며 이 공간을 소개한다.

A unique Chinese restaurant that piques curiosity with its uncommon menu, established in 1955 by Chef Jang Bo Won, grandson of the original owner of Yeongbalwon in Gwangju. In collaboration with four other chefs, he opened this restaurant in an alley behind the Apgujeong Rodeo Starbucks. It boasts a modern and clean interior, with a bar in the center, three four-seater tables, and a separate room for groups. The menu features unusual dishes such as Mara Steak, Dongpa Yuk, Butter Sweet and Sour Pork, Bobosik Jajangmyeon, and Mapa Tofu. Although not thoroughly impressed, the visitor leaves with a yearning to explore more of the menu.

Located in the Apgujeong Hyundai Apartment complex, the French restaurant 'Moustache' was opened by Chef Shin Jun-ki after completing his time at a Hanwoo course dining in Cheongdam and living in France. It offers course meals based on French home cooking. The course meals' classic composition and generous portions were impressive, especially the signature Coq au Vin Jaune. The wine list is also very good, making it suitable for gatherings. The second floor is available for private room use if a certain price is met, making it suitable for meetings with many people. The Omakase set of 5 kinds is available for 16,000 won with no mandatory bottle order requirement, making it accessible at any time. The bar, though small, is cozy, and uses only the finest binchotan charcoal, seasoning solely with salt to enhance the flavors while complementing beverages perfectly. The skewers warm both body and mind as they cook, 🍢😶‍🌫️ creating a simple and comfortable atmosphere that seems worth frequent visits. 🍻 The skewers are delicious, but the sweet, tender grilled eggplant is unforgettable, leaving one longing for it at night. 🍆 Address: Yakitori Chori, 662-16 Sinsa-dong, closed on Sundays. Tempuraya Shirakawa, the most stable and successful settlement before the current tempura boom. The most important factors are the degree of cookedness of the batter and ingredients, as well as the easy-to-access price, which is probably the biggest reason for its popularity.

A pretty, delicious, and scenic brunch cafe situated on the 5th floor without an elevator, attracting many visitors for a reason! One side features a small decor shop, next to which is the cooking area and tables. With limited seating, it's advisable to call ahead. There's no elevator to the 5th floor.. Oh, and there are two absolutely adorable poodles that are incredibly affectionate. The menu includes uncommon dishes like Lemon Cream Shrimp Pasta, Green Onion Butter Pasta, and Carrot Lape Shrimp Toast, but fortunately, these unique offerings have received positive reviews. There's a terrace accessible through a door next to it, offering a splendid view of the entire Apgujeong Rodeo area. This place has a variety of elements that come together to create its unique personality, which is much appreciated. It’s a venue where the owner's unique taste and personality shine through, leaving one hoping for more places like this.
