This is a collection of Hanok concept cafes across the country where you can find various variations of the Hanok we love.
Tide Water
blending hanok
tide water
Tidewater is a hanok cafe located in Seochon. As soon as it opened, it gained a lot of popularity and became a hot spot in Seochon. I missed the timing when it opened, so I only went there now. It stands out that there is a courtyard on the outdoor terrace. By utilizing the U-shaped hanok structure, the meaning of the area called Seochon and the branding elements of Tidewater are melted together. The atmosphere of the space is cozy with the down-toned lighting, and I think it is a cafe where you can feel the space beauty of using a small space wisely rather than a very large space.
โ
There are about 6-7 tables inside, and the seats are located on the left and right sides of the coffee bar. Dogs are allowed on the outdoor patio seating. When most of the children of the younger generation visit Seochon with their parents, they tend to find a hanok cafe with a young sense. It is a cafe that satisfies that purpose, and it is like a little peace in the bustling alley of Seochon.

I ordered an Americano, and the first taste started with a savory taste, and towards the end, I was able to meet a coffee that felt the sweetness of chocolate.

๐ถ Music
โ
Tidewater's music is colored with jazz POP and alternative music. Songs from my wife's favorite โBenny Singsโ fill the room, and they fit perfectly. Stylish and vintage music adds to the sophistication of Tidewater.

NEMA Samcheong
Reasons to go back to Samcheongdong-gil in spring
nema
Nema is a new cafe in Samcheong-dong. I've been to Nema, which has been moved to a wider and better-viewed place from where it used to be. Since it is a place where you can meet by climbing a little bit of stairs, the outside view from the inside has the charm of being able to see the quiet Samcheong-dong at a glance, and you can enjoy Nema's coffee in a larger space than the existing space.
โ
Inside, there are window seats and bar seats, and inside, there is a beautifully decorated outdoor terrace seat waiting for spring. The response of the staff was friendly, and there was no regret at all about the explanation of the coffee. It's really fun to meet a new cafe in Samcheong-dong. I admit that it's a neighborhood with fewer people than before, but it's also true that there are still many people who like the unique atmosphere of Samcheong-dong. If you are planning a trip to Samcheong-dong in the spring that gets closer every day, you might want to stop by Nema.

๐ Coffee

I chose Ethiopian Wash and ordered filter coffee, and the good balance and softness like tea came to me positively.

โ
๐ถ Music
โ
Nema's music is colored with R&B/soul music. You don't have to color the music with one particular mood that comes to mind just because it's Samcheong-dong, neither is Nema. Nema's spatial atmosphere feels soft rather than flashy. The music right now is not bad, but I think the calm vintage jazz would be good.

WARP WARP
Gangneung New Hot Place Cafe
warp warp
Warp Warp is a new cafe in Gangneung. My wife and I visited this place as a new cafe by chance during a cafe tour in Gangneung. It was made by renovating an old building, and it seems to be a hot place in Gangneung by adding a modern sensibility to hanok. The interior feels like a cafe in Seongsu-dong, and the interior seen from the outside is also quite nice.
โ
Inside, there are tables inside and outside with a coffee bar as the center. Rather than staying for a long time, I felt like a place where I could relieve the fatigue of my trip to Gangneung with a cup of yanggaeng and coffee. The staff were very friendly, and since the restaurant has just opened, I think the menu or overall operation plan will be refined a bit.

๐ Coffee
โ
I ordered an Americano, but personally, it was a little disappointing that the bitterness remained for a long time. As it is currently temporarily open, the beans are subject to change in the future.
โ
โ
๐ถ Music
โ
The music of Warpwarp is colored with hip-hop music. It's the music that fits the space. And the music goes well with the employees who work there, but when we think about music from the customer's point of view, I think we need to think a little more about whether hip-hop music is right for this space. I don't like serious and calm pop songs, and jazz doesn't suit me even more. Personally, I prefer Lo-fi jazz hip-hop over hip-hop genre.

Midamheon
A hanok cafe in Ikseon-dong
Mi Damheon
Midamheon is a hanok cafe in Ikseon-dong. Ikseon-dong Alley is always crowded with people, and you can meet Midamheon here. Midamheon was a restaurant famous for small first-year celebrations, but it is now being used as a cafe selling coffee and beer. Contrary to what it looks like from the outside, the inside is very spacious because two hanok houses are connected. The peculiar thing is that you have to enter the entrance, go through the yard and go through the interior to order, and since there are two yards, there are two entrances. There is no doubt that it is a place where you can feel the old-fashioned atmosphere of hanok and has various charms during the day and at night.
โ
Inside, the space is very spacious, including the indoor sarangchae space and the yard, and it was a place where there were a lot of strangely customers, but the fact that you can spend a quiet and calm time came to me as a charm. The staff is also friendly, and personally, I liked the relaxed atmosphere of the space more than the satisfaction with drinks or desserts.

โ
๐ Beans

โ
โ
๐ Coffee
โ
I ordered an Americano, which was a well-balanced and slightly acidic fritz bean. Coffee was a bit disappointing for me personally.
โ
โ
๐ถ Music
โ
Mi Damheon's music is colored with domestic songs. Well-known ballad music fills the space. Well, what is the intention? Regardless of the high level of perfection in the space, there are spaces where ballad music is suitable and spaces where it is not. The selection of ballads in a hanok cafe is very disappointing, and I think it would be better to make the old atmosphere of hanok a little deeper with a calm performance song without vocals. The music played in a space or store should not be played to the music that the people who run the place want to hear, but to give an impression of the place to those who visit.

Sol Cafe
Gyeongju Hwangridan-gil Hotple Hanok Cafe
cafe sol
Cafe Sol is a hanok cafe located on Hwangridan-gil, Gyeongju. Recently, I have been going to Gyeongju frequently, so I walk from the famous Hwangridan-gil to a small alley in Gyeongju. I've been to Cafรฉ Sol, which I've been curious about for a long time, but since it's recently become a hot spot on Hwangridan-gil, there are quite a few customers even on weekday mornings. It embraces an outdoor terrace in a large garden and promotes Gyeongju's hanok. The objects and furniture filling the interior have a modern feel, so they seem to harmonize the modern feel with a hanok. There are points that not only the young generation but also various age groups will like, and the outdoor terrace, which is good for families, is also good.
โ
Inside, the cafe's main building, the building next to it used as an annex, and outdoor terrace seating are available. In the annex, there were a lot of tables compared to the space, so it seemed a little cluttered. It is so popular that it has to accommodate a large number of people. The staff's response was mediocre, and if you go to Hwangridan-gil, which is a must-visit in Gyeongju, Cafรฉ Sol seems to be one of the good options.

I ordered an Americano, and personally, it was a dark and slightly bitter style with a smokey feel. There seems to be almost no acid.

Cafe Sol's music is colored with POP. What kind of music would be better if you add a modern feel and a hanok? First of all, if we take out the ones that aren't, I don't think it's really jazz, if it's a place that targets young people, the weight will be on the POP side, and if the age is a little wider, I think it would be good for comfortable music.

Bukchon Hanok Village Healing Spot Tea Drinking Garden Tea Drinking Garden is a hanok cafe located in Bukchon Hanok Village in Samcheong-dong. Samcheong-dong is a charming neighborhood, if not as much as it used to be. I visited Samcheong-dong to go to the tea garden after a short time, and it specializes in traditional tea, rice cakes, and shaved ice. Taking advantage of the tranquility of a hanok cafe, there is an outdoor seating area, so it was good to enjoy in the weather like these days. There are tables centered around a small garden, and the fact that it is a place that you can visit with children seems to be one of the charms. On a sunny day with a cool breeze, I don't think time flies. โ The interior is operated with indoor and outdoor tables, and there are various traditional teas, but a coffee menu is also available. The young staff treated me very kindly, and they gave me a small shaved ice, which I ordered for a traditional tea, saying it was a leisurely time. The inclement weather continues, but it is said to be getting better from the weekend. If you go to Bukchon on a fine day, it would be a good idea to stop by the tea drinking garden. โ โ ๐ Menu/Price โ -Dutch coffee is prepared for coffee. -About 30 kinds of traditional tea, desserts, and shaved ice are available. โ โ ๐ถ Music โ The music of Tea Drinking Garden is painted with calm piano music. This is a selection of songs that make good use of the atmosphere of a hanok cafe. The atmosphere of the space is deepened with the music that can give you a calm and peaceful feeling, and it was good that the music also had a texture with the point of โhealingโ of a hanok. ๐ 26 Bukchon-ro 11na-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul ๐ 12:00~21:00 / Closed on Mondays ๐ Kids Zone
The Home Seoul
A hanok cafe hidden in a residential alley near Bomun Station The Home Seoul The Home Seoul is a cafe located near Bomun Station on Line 6. The area near Bomun Station is known as a neighborhood with many attractive cafes, and I was able to meet The Home Seoul in a quiet residential alley. This is a hanok cafe with a quiet feeling, and it boasts a cozy feeling while being cozy. Although it is a hanok cafe, modern sensibility is added throughout the space to create a different mood, and I think there are parts that are more attractive because the space is not too big. It would be great to have a cafe like this in the neighborhood. โ Inside, there are about 5 tables, and although the interior space is not large, the space between the tables as far as possible stands out. The representative is also kind, and looking at the cafe's Instagram, it seems that there is a good deal. It must be such a beautiful space, so it would be good to refer to it before visiting. โ โ ๐ Coffee beans โ - This is a drip coffee store. - The beans are being used as single origins from Mandeling Indonesia. โ โ ๐ Coffee โ I ordered drip coffee, and it was a coffee that I could feel the savory taste and the chocolate taste from the first taste. โ โ ๐ถ Music โ The Home Seoul's music is colored with R&B and Lo-Fi music. Although R&B may differ from place to place, the Lofi that fills the hanok is different each time, leaving a good impression of the space. You seem to have chosen the music well, and the music didn't bother you too much while enjoying the space. ๐ 87, Inchon-ro 1-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul ๐ 13:00~22:00 / Closed on Tuesdays ๐ No Kids Zone

Places to go before the expiration date of trench coats Low Loop Low Loop is a hanok cafe in Bukchon. The Bukchon Uphill Trail is a place where you can take a slow break whenever you visit, and here you can meet the low-loop. It has been very popular since it opened, and it seems that the atmosphere of a hanok cafe, Bukchon, and the seasons meet to create a synergistic effect. You can enjoy time while looking at the Hwigyeomjae Han family's house in Gahoe-dong. People fill up pretty quickly from the opening time, so it would be good to feel the atmosphere of Bukchon Hanok Cafe before it gets cold. โ Inside, there are several shared tables and coffee bar seats where you can order coffee, and private indoor and outdoor seats are available in the front yard of Hwigyeomjae in the backyard. It was quite peaceful to spend time in a place protected by the autumn leaves and Hwi Gyeomjae, which make you feel the season. Among the cafes I've been to recently, it's where I personally enjoyed the most luxurious break, and the weather will get colder after this week, so I think it'd be good to enjoy the fall of Low Loop before it's too late. โ โ ๐ Menu โ - The beans are operated in 3 different blends. -Classic (goso), seasonal (acidity), decaffeinated โ โ ๐ Coffee โ I ordered an Americano with a seasonal blend, and I got the feeling that it was sweet at first taste and ended with acidity at the end. It has a soft feel and is easy to drink. โ โ ๐ถ Music โ Lowloop's music is colored with jazz performances. It is not that western music is not suitable for hanok. Low Loop is a place with two distinct characteristics, East and West, so I felt that the jazz music suits them well. I think songs without vocals would be good, and it would be better if the mood was like โThe Melody At Night, With Youโ album by โKeith Jarrettโ rather than songs with a too fast tempo. ๐46-1 Bukchon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul ๐Weekdays - 10:00-20:00 / Closed on Mondays ๐Kids Zone ๐Dogs allowed outdoors ๐No parking
Artisan Bakers Paju
A place where you can feel the autumn of Paju in a hanok Artisan Bakers Paju Branch Artisan Bakers Paju Branch is a hanok cafe located in Paju. There are many restaurants and cafes near Majang Lake in Paju, so it is full of people every weekend, but you can meet Artisan Bakers Paju here. Artisan Bakers operates 5 stores including the Paju branch, and the Paju branch is a popular weekend destination for families with children and couples. It is good that it embraces the tranquility of a hanok, and that the indoor and outdoor seats have different personalities. Now that the autumn leaves are changing a little, outdoor seating is popular, and I was able to see that they have a variety of bakery menus. โ The inside is operated with about 10 tables, and the outside seating is divided into outdoor seating in hanok and indoor seating in hanok. The outdoor seating has a private feel, and some seats are equipped with electric blankets, so I think it would be good even in a bit chilly weather. Inside the hanok, you can enjoy a leisurely time while looking at the yard through the large window. Another thing to keep in mind is that, besides the interior seating, most of the seats in the back of the hanok are sedentary, and you have to purchase bottled water. The menu price is a bit high, but I don't think it's outrageous in a suburban cafe like this, and if you're satisfied with your stay, it's well worth the price. โ โ ๐ Menu โ - Coffee beans are operated in two blends. -Black / White โ โ ๐ Coffee โ I ordered an Americano with a black blend, and the flavor was good and the body was good. Personally, I drank it not badly. โ โ ๐ถ Music โ Artisan Bakers' music is colored with trendy pop. Pop songs are played in the room where you order coffee, and soft music is played inside the hanok in the back. I think it would be good to unify it as a single piece of music, and it was a mood more suited to a performance song than a pop song. ๐92 Soryeongwon-gil, Gwangtan-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do ๐10:00~21:00 / Closed on Mondays ๐Kids Zone ๐No dogs allowed ๐Parking available
